Adipurush, Prabhas’ eagerly anticipated big-budget epic, was released last week to generally negative reviews and word-of-mouth. The project was so eagerly anticipated that audiences flocked to the theatre, and reservations alone generated enormous initial collections.
By the first Monday of the week, this enthusiasm had subsided, and the movie had experienced a sharp decline. Despite the steep decline, the movie has succeeded in reaching a significant milestone. Adipurush has surpassed the Rs 300 crore milestone at the global box office with today’s earnings. After Baahubali, Baahubali 2, and Saaho, it is Prabhas’ fourth 300 crore+ grosser. The most famous South Indian hero is also this.
In the Om Raut-directed film, Prabhas played Lord Ram alongside Kriti Sanon as Janaki, Saif Ali Khan as Raavan, Sunny Singh as Lakshman, and Deva Dutta Nage as Lord Hanuman.
The Telugu version’s theatrical rights are 190 CRS, while the total break-even point for all translations is 320 CRS. To be in the safe zone, the movie needs to run well at least until the following weekend, but given the present trajectory, Adipurush’s aim seems far away.
