On Muthaiah Muralitharan’s birthday, the first image from the MS Sripathy-directed biopic “800” about the former cricketer was unveiled. The titular Muthaiah Muralitharan is portrayed by actor Madhur Mittal of “Slumdog Millionaire” fame, while Madhimalar is played by Mahima Nambiyar.
The number “800” in the title refers to Muralitharan’s total number of test match wickets, which is the most ever by any bowler. ‘Kanimozhi’ (2010) marks director MS Sripathy’s directorial debut. Venkat Prabhu, a Tamil filmmaker, was a former associate of Sripathy’s.
In addition, the movie features significant roles for Narain, Nasser, Vela Ramamurty, Riythvika, Vadivukkarasi, Arul Doss, Hari Krishnan, Yog Japyee, and Sharath Lohitashwa. The movie has finished filming, and locations include Sri Lanka, Chennai, Cochin, England, and Australia.
